IUPUI/ICIC-Hakuoh University

Intensive English Program

Hakuoh University in Oyama, Japan, was founded in 1986. Hakuoh and IUPUI have had an international exchange agreement since 2005.

In September 2005, thirteen Hakuoh University students came to IUPUI for a two-week intensive English program, similar to ICIC’s historic Tsuda program.  Program instructors were Chuck Fischer and Molly Anthony.

In September 2007, twelve students arrived for the second Hakuoh-IUPUI/ICIC program. Students studied cultural topics such as cultural values, communication and non-verbal communication styles, traditional and non-traditional families, education, etc.  Instructor Honnor Orlando facilitated interviews with native English speakers for the students to conduct research for their final projects.

ICIC will welcomed students from Hakuoh again in September 2010.
